January Learning
As we continued with our paper investigations, we learned how to make a paper mache ball.
Our study of penguins helped us to learn more high frequency words we could use in our reading and writing. We also used this study to help us learn more about non-fiction text features.
We read many books about Martin Luther King Jr. and learned what a difference he made in our country.
This little poem was used in our phonics lessons.
Writer's Workshop
The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats was our mentor text for many writing lessons.
Small Moments
December Learning
Making our December calendar
Math Center Activities
Students enjoyed reading to someone before our performance.
Students investigate what happens when water gets wet. |
We have been reading Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett. Students enjoyed decorating gingerbread cookies with Ms. Maniaci.
Learning to recycle paper
November Learning
We continue to study Wood and Paper. Our focus these past two weeks have been on how particleboard and plywood are made. Our classroom of scientists enjoy beginning each lesson with a question. Together the class makes a hypothesis, and uses hands on activities to test their ideas. We conclude the lesson by recording our observations in our Science Journals.
Making Particleboard
Our November Turkey Glyph and November Poem
We made turkey hats and enjoyed watching a movie about the first Thanksgiving.
Our study of wood and paper has moved to the investigation of a variety of paper types. This is the chart we used to help us learn more about paper.
Students had fun investigating the different types of paper.
Students went on a paper hunt in the classroom. We put labels on things made of paper.
Our class used interactive writing to make a list of things that we are thankful for.
