Making New Friends in Kindergarten

Elli and Mikayla enjoy reading together.

Housekeeping continues to be a favorite free choice.

Our First Self Portraits

We read a book about the different ways people get to school.  We made a graph to show the different ways we get to school.  We learned that most friends drive in a car.

Our Class

Our class has been learning that some letters have curves and some letters have straight lines, and some letters have both.  We practiced making curves and straight lines with
play-doh.

We added speech bubbles to our self portraits.  We learned about each other and how we are the same and how we are different.  Our classroom is building a community of respect and friendship.

First Day of Kindergarten 2011-2012

The first day of kindergarten was an exciting day for
everyone!  We were able to meet new friends, visit
the Luther Elementary School library, and enjoy some play
time in our classroom.  Here are a few pictures...enjoy!

Getting Ready for Kindergarten 2011-2012

The summer was filled with busy days of organizing and planning for our new kindergarten classroom.

This is our classroom Word Wall and Word Work /Writing Center

Our classroom library is in the process of being labeled and organized for students to use.

This is our large carpet area where we will enjoy lots of learning experiences.

The SMARTboard will be an exciting part of our daily activities.

Listening to reading is an important part of our literacy curriculum.
We are anxiously waiting for the arrival of our cordless listening center.

Housekeeping is a favorite free choice for many kindergartners.
The table set, cradle, and babies are treasures my daughters used when
they were little.  This makes the classroom feel like home for me!
