Health and Fitness Fair

On October 5 we were able to learn ways to stay fit and healthy.  We rotated between stations and learned the importance of:  stretching, exercising, building body strength, making healthy food/drink choices, limiting screen time,  hand washing, and dealing with stress in our lives.
This was our first station where we learned
how to stretch before we exercise.

More Stretching

Balance and building body strength

More balancing

We got our hearts pumping at this station.

We discussed good food choices and those foods we should limit.

In this station, we sorted foods into different food groups.

This station was amazing!  We felt the shell of a hard boiled egg. The nurse explained

to us that this is what your healthy teeth feel like.  She then had us feel an egg that had been soaked in sugar water for one night.  The shell had been eaten away by the
sugary substance.  It felt mushy and soft.  We also felt a hard chicken bone and a bone that
had soaked in sugar water.  It also was soft and slimy!  We were able to see the amount of sugar in each of our favorite drink choices!  We all decided that water would be the best choice:)

We found that there is lots of sugar in our drinks! Chocolate milk has twice the amount of sugar than white milk.

As you can see, there is A LOT of sugar in our drinks.
Our class is deciding what is "screen time" and what is not.
This is our class during a "commercial" break!
This is the station where we discussed how we feel when we
are stressed.  She asked us to tighten up and stand
like a hard carrot and explained how that is how our body feels when we are stressed.  We practiced making our body floppy like spaghetti noodles!
We also learned that squeezing a stuffed animal, Play-doh,
or reading a book can help us when we feel stressed.

Overall, we enjoyed learning how to stay fit and healthy!  Some friends
even tried white milk during our milk
break!  :)
