"Do you know who Martin Luther King Jr. is?"...This was the question of the day on January 16, 2012. Only one student in the class knew who he was. When I asked this student to tell the class who Martin Luther King Jr. was he responded by saying he was a brave and strong man. This was a wonderful way to begin our study of this powerful person in our American history. We read a book called Happy Birthday, Martin Luther King by Jean Marzollo. We agreed after reading the book that he was a very brave and strong man. We discussed the dream he had and even watched a clip from the actual speech in Washington D.C.
Our thoughts for writing were prompted by what we learned from Martin Luther King Jr. and his life. Here are a few pictures of what students wrote in response to our story.
