Pumpkin Run and Lots of Fun!

We began our day with a question...Does a pumpkin float?  Most students thought that the pumpkin would not float.  We found out that the pumpkin did indeed float!

We enjoyed decorating our pumpkins.

We also loved playing number Bingo with fly markers!

In the afternoon, we went outside for the warm up exercises and Pumpkin Run!  It was fun for all!!

Following the Pumpkin Run, we enjoyed a Spata family favorite, Popcorn by Frank Asch.

 We made our Monster Mash.

We made a graph to show our favorite Jack-O-Lantern faces.
Scary was the winner and so that is how we carved our pumpkin.  The students loved seeing and touching the pumpkin pulp!

Everyone made a spider treat with cheese spread, pretzels, and Ritz crackers.

Food, Fun, and Friendship...it does not get any better than that!  Thank you to all our parents who sent food, pumpkins, and party supplies!  We could not have had our party without your support!!
Thank You!!!

Dental Hygiene Classroom Visit

On October 25, the dental hygiene students from Madison College came to our classroom.  All the kindergarten students rotated to all three stations to learn about dental care.  Each student received a packet with a new toothbrush, floss, toothpaste, and timer.

The girls showed us what happens to our teeth when we do not brush and care for them properly. This is a Styrofoam cup with honey stuck to the outside.  It turned to acid and ate a whole right through the cup.

At this station, the students looked at plaque on teeth.  They chewed on red tablets that helped them to see the plaque on their own teeth.  The students colored a picture to show where they saw plaque after chewing the tablets.

At this station, students learned how to brush their teeth.  They ate an Oreo cookie to see how the food gets stuck in their teeth, and were instructed on proper brushing techniques.

At this station, students learned about healthy food choices .

At the end of our time together, students enjoyed a treat of apples, peanut butter, and marshmallows.  Students really loved this entire  activity!
