Fun with Chemistry

Luther Elementary School had a wonderful science assembly.  It was exciting to see what fun you can have when you understand chemistry.

The next few pictures will show what happens after you blow up a balloon and place the balloon in freezing temperatures.  The balloon kept getting smaller and smaller.

Brian and Juan were able to demonstrate what happens when you write on gold paper with Chapstick and spray the paper with windex.

Students were able to get their hands into some pretty sticky stuff.  Overall, the assembly was interesting and fun!

Mo Willems Fun

Students had fun making pigeon hats with Ms. Maniaci in the library.

The kindergarten students LOVED the author study of Mo Willems.  His books made us giggle and laugh!  Reading is so much fun!  Here are a few of our favorite books by Mo Willems.

Science: Paper Mache Bowls

Our science investigation last week led us into a messy and extremely fun activity!  We began by reading The Pinata Maker/El Pinatero  by George Ancona and we learned another creative way to recycle paper. After the story, we each had the opportunity to make our own paper mache bowls.  The students LOVED getting their hands into the paper mache paste.

I will try to get some pictures of the finished bowls when they are completed.
